gLo is a week each summer organised by our congregation's youth ministry staff in conjunction with the local Church of Ireland parish. It gives an an opportunity for young people to live out their faith in Jesus and shine for him. Over the week they serve and witness to the community in a variety of ways including gardening, tidying the area, recycling, running children's activities and performing in music and dance. There is also an opportunity for those signed up to have fun together including a day trip to the north coast.
Worship and learning is at the heart of each day with some of the 'gLoers' leading the worship. This year a variety of speakers looked at 'Encounters with Jesus', thinking about the example of how Christ loved those that he met.
This year at the end of the gLo week, the congregation ran Afterglo, an open day which allowed people from Waringstown and beyond to visit the church, see the ministries we run and what we have to offer to the community, and hear about why we do what we do. At the centre of Afterglo was an exhibition in the Craig Hall showcasing the ministries of WPC. Food was served to guests in a marquee in the manse garden, and there were bouncy castles to amuse the kids.
Throughout the day those involved in the music ministry of our church sang a selection of worship songs and our puppet ministry team presented bible stories to children.
